Many of us have heard the expression - breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But, what if it's not breakfast that is the most "important" thing in the morning but rather your rituals and what you put in and take out of your body?
Mornings can be the most stressful time of the day for many people. And, the morning tone sets the vibe for the rest of your day.
Between showering, eating a healthy breakfast and putting together a clean pressed outfit, most of us are charging out of the door on auto pilot before taking a second to think about our mouths or what came in and out of them.
That's not great for the day and according to Ayurveda, the ancient healing system, your hectic morning ritual could be the reason you feel tired, annoyed bloated and stressed for the rest of the day.
Here are 3 Ayurvedic Practices That Will Change Your Life:
1. Use a gunkii tongue scraper (the best tongue scraper)
According to Ayurveda, your mouth is the main gateway between your mind and the outside world.
It makes sense if you think about it! We nourish our body through the mouth. We speak our reality through our mouth. And we also use our mouths to show love and affection to those we love!
With that in mind, you can see why maintaining optimal oral health is vital to you.
Using gunkii first thing in the morning is considered one of the best ways to remove all of that gunk that builds up overnight. It's also disgustingly satisfying to see what comes off your tongue. As an added bonus, your breath is going to be extra fresh without all of that gunk polluting the environment.
Ayurvedic experts state tongue scraping enhance your sense of taste. Tongue scraping removes toxins that may obstruct digestive functioning, while activating what is know as ‘agni’, "the body’s digestive fire".
Do you really need anymore reasons then that to tongue scrape!?
2. Oil pulling
In conjunction with using Listerine, add oil pulling to your routine at least twice a week. Swishing coconut oil around your mouth for a minimum of five minutes can really change your mouth.
The process is believed to remove bacteria, toxins and parasites from the mouth.
When done regularly, oil pulling is a great way to wake up the senses first thing in the morning.
If "5 minutes" seems like a lot to you, know that you can do it It can while dressing, ironing, grooming, and or showering.
3. Drink warm water with lemon(s)
This is something that has been written about extensively.
Warm water is said to help flush the digestive system and rehydrate the body. The bitter lemon loosens ‘ama’ (ama means toxin or undigested metabolic waste). So the lemon acts as a cleaner to remove toxins in your digestive tract that build inside of you.
